Welcome to the "Is It Worth It?" Distracted Driving Campaign website. Here you'll find all the information you need on the Multi-Media Competition, our social media channels, statistics and general resources related to distracted driving!
As you probably know, distracted driving is a serious issue among Canadian youth, and we're asking you, is it worth it? A recent study found that when drivers take their eyes off the road for more than two seconds, their risk of crashing doubles! Scroll down the page and you'll see other facts and figures that paint a picture of how serious this issue is.
Recognizing that driving while distracted is a growing epidemic, SMARTRISK has joined forces with student leaders from Northern Secondary School in Toronto and Leo Hayes High School in Fredericton, to launch a national campaign to tackle this issue head on. We met over two days in October to choose a campaign name, develop key messages, identify signature events, design promotional materials and set a plan for the rest of the school year. The campaign launched in New Brunswick and Ontario on Nov. 9, 2011. Visit our Facebook page for photos from the two events, or click here for the media coverage we've received to date.
